Collective identity: blog task

1) Read the article and summarise each section in one sentence, starting with the section 'Who are you?'

Explains the different of who are, who we want to be and who we want to be seen as the exmaples of media is influencing us all.

Who are you section is the idea of digital media and out identities to be fixed and knwon.

From citizen to consumer explain how and when the idea is constructed identities came into society.

The rise of the individual explains  how we are different with different factors as to how we act to people in a individual way.

Branding and life style is how brands and us are associated and how we take there products to individually show us.

2) List five brands you are happy to be associated with and explain how they reflect your sense of identity.
Samsung
Microsoft
Nike
Addidas
Sony

They all reflect to me as to being a teenager and also for being modern it shows i am a mainstream person and shows that like to associated with technology.

3) Do you agree with the view that modern media is all about 'style over substance'? What does this expression mean?

I agree as people only care mostly about the presentation then the information being shown in society and how modern media is taken as people most want videos now.

4) Explain Baudrillard's theory of 'media saturation' in one paragraph. You may need to research it online to find out more.

reality we live in is not actual reality and is actually constructed by the media to make us think that it is reality. The term hyper-real is used to explain this. Essentially the media bombards us with various advertisements and other things to make us live the reality constructed by the elites.

5) Is your presence on social media an accurate reflection of who you are? Have you ever added or removed a picture from a social media site purely because of what it says about the type of person you are?

My presence on social media is not really who i am i believe that when i do communicate i may be shown boring or just plain but really i like to do more. As a person i believe that i like to show what i do and express my love to film and comics.

6) What is your opinion on 'data mining'? Are you happy for companies to sell you products based on your social media presence and online search terms? Is this an invasion of privacy?

I think its a good idea if it thinks you will like this products because of searches you have made then it should be alright maybe its something the person was looking for and companies want to sell us there product which will suit a person so they dont keep giving random products.
