2) Develop examples of the impact that new and digital media has had on News Corp’s brands (paywalls, readership figures, audience share etc.)
With new and digital media News Corp's brands like The Times have a paywall and this was already having a pay wall which was a positive impact on for the company to make the same amount of money from their readers. However The Sun did this too late and they have gone down as to they use to have at least 3 million readers 5 years ago, now they are up 1.8 million readers which would show that they added the paywall at the wrong time. A strong impact to News Corp's brand would be SKY GO which was an online service and provided news and entertainment for audiences which boosted there rates of viewership as they had it on the go and could watch on an digital device which led to not needing a TV license and also this was only if had SKY.
3) Use what you have found out about News Corp to answer the following question:
Why and with what success are traditional media institutions adapting to the challenge posed by new/digital media?
The Times and The Sun have adapted but in very different paths where you have the positive of The Times as to starting with the paywall and having well a different demographic audience. Going into digital media is good because it stills gives the service. However you have The Sun which shown to be different, for example their demographic is working class and mostly for C2DE. They have to go through the challenge of getting their readership as to what it used to be like 3 million readers. Now News corp brands have successfully come up with ideas on how to keep going but they have made sacrifices like making the Sun Paywall which had not done well. The challenge they largely face is that there is news which is free and high standard and this is the struggle in the modern life for new digital media as it is making news seem worthless to the news brands.
