Section A- How has social media changed the way audiences watch television?

Social media has changed the way audiences watch T.V by giving the idea of a second screen. This would mean by the fact that the television is the first and would have your side which is the phone. This would be the reason of uses and gratification such as the audience wanted to always be updated on their phone by social media. For example, this would be the fact why audiences look at social media because they have their own technological device where they wouldn't want to give there attention. Because there is no attention to television it would lead to the reason of viewings and ratings. For example this would be like EastEnders which had a massive audience rating of 9 million people watching where as it now is 3 million people. This would be because other people just on social media as it makes there day. Youtube would be part of this as for example it has a base of billion subscriptions, KSI has 12 million subscribers which is more than a television showing. Pewdiepie has changed the internet history with 32 million subscribers which is more than other television shows.

In addition another way that television has changed for audiences is that user generated content is more shown. This would be by giving tweets and the television showing them because it is from an audience view whereas people don't really care what a critic says anymore. The change of this would be the fact that because twitter and facebook are popular people would write comments and reviews which people would actually like to read. Social media has also changed the prospective of information where social media give you everything whereas television has a fixed time nothing like Netflix and Amazon prime. There is also another change to previews and clips where in a few years back it would only be shown in the cinema where as it would be now shown on youtube and it would make more views generating more money than what a television show can make. Television has been abandoned most of time because of social media and that there isn't a big audience who would still have a TV license because of tablets and phones can be used.

Lastly i believe social media has changed the way audience watch television by iplayer and the use of technology is too depth in. Also for television shows are mostly all on Netflix or Amazon prime which is people mostly subscribe too. This would also be because dont watch television but they stream which makes loses a lot of money for rating and views. This would put the industry down and with social media has made audience not use television that much and made family prime time not be important like it used to be. It has changed where exclusivity is not on TV but it is on Netflix and other big streaming networks. Piracy would be a big change to this too which makes audiences want a cheaper deal as to Sky box being expensive. Social media have given audiences different path ways and different results as to televisions use slowly dying but still being used for different platforms liek smart TV's.
